Holiday on the shores of the lake in Aube en Champagne

On the shores of a lake, not far off the A5 and A26 motorways, in the heart of the Forêt d’Orient Regional Park, Kawan Resort le Lac d’Orient benefits from a beautiful natural setting. A relaxing spot, it is equally an ideal departure point for visiting the region of Aube en Champagne, an area of vineyards used for the production of champagne. Historically reknowned, this region played an important part in medieval times… the birthplace of Charles de Gaulle is also not far from the campsite.

Historical towns and villages


20 kms from the site is the pretty town of Troyes. This ancient medieval city has an attractive centre full of half timbered buildings dating back to the 16th century aswell as several churches reknowned for their stained glass windows. Troyes is also known for its factory shops where you can find, at cut prices, some of the biggest names in fashion.

Colombey les Deux Eglises

The village of Colombey les Deux Eglises (40 kms from site) is famous since Général de Gaulle is buried here. In autumn 2008 a fabulous Memorial museum was completed in memory of one of the greatest heros in French history. The museum allows the visitor to retrace a large part of 20th century history through the life of this great man. Apart from the permanant exhibtion, the museum has a string of fascinating temporary exhibitions.

Fôret d'Orient regional Natural Park

The Forêt d’Orient Regional Park covers an area spreading from the limits of the Paris suburbs to the south of the Champagne area.

From the shores of the lakes to the forest, this Regional Park offers a variety of landscapes which, moreover, inspired the painter Auguste Renoir. This region of massive lakes, will seduce nature lovers and ornothologists as the Park provides shelter to thousands of birds. Especially in autumn, you can observe the migration of grey crane.

Champagne…the most famous vineyards in the world !

The Champagne region is known throughout the world for its sparkling wine bringing a real note of celebration to weddings, birthdays and other festivities. The majority of the vineyards surround Reims and Epernay, around the Reims hills and the Marne Valley, but part of the Champagne vineyards are in the south of the Aube area, just a few kilometers from Kawan Resort le Lac d’Orient in the Seine Valley.

This area of vineyards is known as the ‘Côte des Bar’. Numerous cellars not far from the campsite are open for champagne tasting ! Come to the campsite reception to find out about the best places to go…we will offer you a guide with 25 highly recommended adresses !
